Day 7 Sunday 25th June 2023

Today forecast to be hottest so far, 29C.

Up at 4am and walking by 5am to beat the heat I had this a couple of minutes out of the campsite to lift my spirits.
This way? Gladly.
A little further on the breeze changed direction.
Could this be Toad Hall?
Hardwick Estate claims to be.
Handsome Mapledurham lock keeper’s house being refreshed.
Widest yet.
Why can’t we all live like this?
Henley coming up, another whiff of wealth is sniffed.
Fascinating stuff.
Like railways?
Why not
build a model one
down your driveway.

Apparently there is also a station but I didn’t spy it.

Approaching Henley-on-Thames bridge,
the boat names get ostentatious.
After a mega walk the welcome sight of a quiet campsite. While Lisa was at Glastonbury Music Festival crammed in cheek by jowl all I had was an empty field and
the call of Red Kites. At one time I saw six!
While the afternoon crawled over 30C I rested briefly in my tent before a swim at the campsite pool. Was disturbed by sounds of tent stakes being pulled, the crafty buggers were looking for snacks.
With a wingspan of up to 2m I’m glad it took to the air when I looked out. I was too tired to play.

More blisters on my toes, count is now 4. The shoes are pinching my toes width wise. I did air and redress at lunchtime, but this heat is making me sweat buckets. Thankfully the infected one has got better. Still, must soldier on. No photos!
