Day 8 Monday 26th June 2023

Refreshed by a massive sleep, the next day revealed the setup ready for the Henley Royal Regatta starting in two days time.
From the bridge it was clearly going to be a big affair.
The footpath follows the river closely,
being shared with cyclists bellowing instructions to rowers having last minute training runs. Temple Island in the distance.

There was a real buzz in the air at 7.30am. It was exciting walking a couple of days before a big sport and social event. The riverside was beautiful with lovely houses and spectacular specimen tress.

8+ with some fancy houses looking on.
At Hambleden Lock my heart was taken by the near silent approach of the most beautiful boat.
I had a pang of envy.
Pleasing spot to admire the goose flotilla, and the inevitable feet airing and redressing.
Earlier I mentioned wealth. You don’t get this in a slum!
What’s that?
Some sort of Stonehenge?
Huge something. Head with an ear?
The sublime Culham Court built in the 18th century.
This photo does not show the real beauty of the path meandering through the deer park.
White ones you know.
Rare spotting of a red kite not on the wing.
Modern Culham Chapel (2016) in style of a classical temple. What one can do if one’s a billionaire.
I guess I liked this place, even the fencing. Of a style I’m not familiar with. Quite graceful.
Very nicely done.
Not an eyesore at all.
Couldn’t get through that. Had to clamber through a dry ditch next door.
Keen parents herding their kin away from a hungry hiker!
Ooh that looks nice.
Yep.
Next door was nice too.
Ruined castle or chapel on the end?
Beach.
Egyptian Geese. Can’t say I find them attractive up close.
Coming from Bristol I can admire Marlow’s chain suspension bridge.
