PCT excitement.

Last few days have been spent preparing info for my US Visa aplication. As the PCT takes ~5 months to walk, I need to gain permission to stay in the States for longer than the usual tourist does. It’s called a B2 nonimmigrant visa for tourism purposes and is issued for up to 6 months. I’m asking for the full 6 months as I need transit time either end and hopefully some time to see friends Joe and Sai near Kenwood, California.
I have to submit lots of info about myself, pay a fee, then attend an interview at their embassy in London, then have my passport loaded with the visa info. The lead time for interviews is over 4 months so I need to get my skates on.

During the drudgery of admin there was a small tremor of excitement – this week the PCTA have issued the dates for registering then applying for a full hike permit in 2024.
While the PCT can be walked with a small collection of local permits, it’s easier and nice to have the single one. Saves on admin, plus it’s a trophy. Only ~4500 of the permit I’m after are issued annually. Are the odds better or worse than applying for a Glastonbury Music Festival ticket?
