SWCP day 24

They say “the trail provides”. This morning I experienced it. Thrice!

  • The campsite had a free tumble drier and electricity sockets.
  • Tonight’s campsite hadn’t responded to my enquiry. Rechecking their website I scroll down further
😀
  • At the bottom of the hill I found an open cafe at 0830. Unheard of to date.

The cafe attendant writes a cryptic note on my sausage roll paper bag.

Eh!

The sun is out as well and little wind. A good day for walking.

The Roseland Peninsula has some fine coastline.

Caerhays Castle.
Portloe
Nare Head
Superior ice cream – clotted cream and blackcurrant to fuel the final stretch.
I dashed across the beach from the slipway opposite to jump up these steps as the tide raced me. I won this time.

Flatish pitch on campsite with very little wind forecast. I arrive after 29km with daylight to spare and manage to air dry the tent. Tomorrow I hit Falmouth, the day after I’m half way round!

Having experienced a wet arrival at campsite yesterday I think only by having dry and warm today was I able to keep my spirits and distance up. When the inevitability of rain two days on the trot arrives I think that’s now my biggest obstacle. The distance is flying by, my health is good, ferry closures are almost a thing of the past now (the remaining few run year round).

Tomorrow is a short day of <24km, I might amble around Falmouth reliving some memories.
