Nero at Vermillion Valley Resort. Mosquitoes continue to make themselves known. Headnet a necessity.

Finding this lifted my spirits. I redrew it for next hiker.
Flowers after the rain.

VVR is a compelling resort, in hiker terms a vortex. They setup a tab for you, pay at end. Meals are $19-24 which is pricey. I had 4, and haven’t eaten so well since I left England. I chose to walk in and out instead of taking their pontoon ferry at $20 each way. I have the time to do the 6 miles each way because I mistakenly booked my motel accommodation in Mammoth for a day beyond my anticipated arrival.

Mega breakfast
Grizzled me.

Willem and Olga turned up late in the day, freezing cold from waiting 90 minutes in the storm for the ferry. We had a convivial dinner together trading trail stories and learning a little of each other’s life at home.

Me, Olga and Willem.
