This part of California usually has fog rolling in from the Pacific Ocean, mainly in the mornings. This pushes back the hotter inland air offering moisture and respite from the heat. We head to the coast in search of wet air.
On the way there is a little matter of a football match. Sai is following the UEFA Euro competition. She knows of a ‘British pub’ in Santa Rosa showing the game at 10am, serving beer and a full English fry-up. Sounds good for curing the 2 day hangover!

The coast offers fog, earlier mistaken for wildfire smoke, it’s a welcome sight.

I no longer need to carry the bear can though critters are still partial to my cheese.

I gratefully swap out the can at 1169g for the sack at 297g.
While the mosquitos in the Sierra were an annoyance they’re forecast to become a major irritant in Oregon. I wear long clothes which is factory treated in insect repellent and have bug spray for exposed skin. I buy spray for gear as well.

From the recipe book of a friend Sai makes me a That’s-That – her take on the It’s-It.

I find 500g of stuff to leave behind in my bear can. It’s not just my body losing weight – my backpack is too.
