SWCP day 10

Another cool night with a coastal mist

Walked to Lyme Regis for breaky. Shared a table at the quayside Kiosk for food catering for early swimmers and dog walkers. The conversation next to me sounded like an episode of The Archers – who to mind the cattle, which field to move the sheep to next, would they get funding for something or other, who was dependable and who was seeing who.

Through the wooded undercliff I came across a bucket of apples hanging off a footpath finger board. Looking around I spied the open door of an isolated cabin. Taking an apple saying out loud “thank you” I pressed on. Later I ate it, it was tart and refreshing.

About now I left Dorset. Goodbye Dorset, I won’t see you again on this hike, you have been a great proving ground and provided excellent scenery.

Hello Devon!

Walked through Pinhay Warren as a secluded detour with good open views of the sea.

Sunlight puddling on the sea.

Glad I did as the next couple of hours I could hear the sea but not see it in the hot and sultry undercliff woods until Goat Island.

Fecund.

Snack of the morning – half a cheek full of mixed nuts and half a cheek full of blackberries.

Golfers. I know what I’d rather do.
The best way to walk past a golf course.
Lunch today on Seaton sea front. Dorset smoked cheese and apple.
My kinda sign.

  1. Cheek full of nuts, and cheek full of blackberries – you sound like hamster

  2. I think I have taken about a hundred trains in the last ten days, all full of grey-faced commuters. You definitely made a great choice to quit the rat race.
