SWCP day 33

On the trail at 0720.

Plenty of condensation to deal with this morning.

An early morning runner wishes me well.

Portreath provides a coffee and sticky toffee apple croissant.

David is walking The Saints Way but has come off it due to too much road walking. He carries a ‘passport’ enabling him to sleep in church and village halls. Indoors to unroll your sleep mat, with a loo. Luxurious! He’s has the bug for long distance walking, suggesting I’d like walking from Ravenglass to Lindisfarne.

He tries to turn me on to PacerPoles. Looks interesting.
Moody sea salt off the sea.
For once it isn’t me!

Perran Beach is vast. Caroline strolling along the sand is going my way. She introduces herself asking if the tide is going out and can she get round the cliffs partway along. Yes and yes I reply. We pass an interesting 30 minutes until I turn into the dunes. Her stories about teasing politicians in politically charged North Ireland are tall.

I keep managing to get to long sandy beaches as the tide recedes.

The campsite is humdrum. I step in dog shit for the second time on a campsite. FFS!

Evening sky bolds well for tomorrow.

  1. Pasties, sticky toffee apple croissant, ice creams – it will be tricky when you return home and don’t have quite the same calorific needs!
